Taking Cues from Our World

Our friend David Merrell, owner of LA-based, mega event planning company, AOO Events, invited Mosaic to create a guest blog describing  what influences our design aesthetic.

Vibrant Spring Hues Set the Stage

Asked to help a television studio (Pittsburgh-based WQED) launch their space as a hot new venue for events in town, Mosaic again took inspirations from our world to create a breathtaking tablescape. We used the black box as a blank canvas, and decided to incorporate unique elements into the shoot.

Because of the stark contemporary nature of this setting, this space would easily come to life with sleek modern tablecloths and lounge furniture.  Instead, we opted to take a risk and create magic in an unexpected way. Working with Bill Chisnell Productions, we collaborated on a tablescape that included a breathtaking geometric carpet of petals and a lush table exploding in vibrant shades of fuchsia, tangerine tango and fiery reds.  The Studio on Fifth is now booking jobs in Pittsburgh and we were thrilled to have helped launch the venue, showing potential clientele that anything is possible within. Action!

Hunger Games Inspired Wedding Proposal

For this young edgy couple, taking risks and embracing the unexpected is what life is all about! Using inspiration from the release of the hottest new movie, The Hunger Games, to set the stage for this milestone moment, the groom-to-be gave Mosaic the green light to surprise his bride, enabling us to run wild with the theme.

We coupled our traditional “puffy barrel” tablecloth treatment with a shocking camouflage fabric to bring whimsy and frivolity to this tablescape nestled in the woods. We added braided sashes to the chair (braids are so in style thanks to Katniss and the other Tributes), warrior props (bow and arrows, daggers, and ammunition belts) and topped the table with an unexpected combination of gold plates, extravagant roses, and a candelabra dripping in crystals and thistles to finish off our tablescape.  In the end the bride said yes, and the memories of this engagement will last a lifetime for the happy couple. They celebrated their moment with personalized style and elements of grace.
