Party Planning Tips: Color Shy?

Perhaps your event is not designed for 1,000 guests in a big tent. In fact, maybe your latest masterpiece is only a small jewel of an affair. Don't be shy... color shy, that is! If you love the idea of color, but feel your event isn't scaled for a floor-to-ceiling treatment, consider using color as a building block for only some components of your affair. Utilize a long sharing table and split the linear dimension into several sets of color so that it changes visually across the tablespan. Consider blocking tables so that all linens are one color, all napkins are a second color, and florals are third monochromatic color family. Even chairs or ottomans can add a color block to the palette. This concept works perfectly for affairs that have just handfuls of guests. The end result can create the same visual excitement for a small intimate party that a dramatic tent can create for a cast of thousands. So don't be shy. Use bursts of color in small doses to wow guests in the most intimate of affairs.
